Fifth Grade Trip

The “Wild Wild West” is the theme for the Fifth Grade three-day trip.
The first stop is in Lincoln, New Mexico, where a scavenger hunt through this Old West town illustrates the days of Billy the Kid and the Lincoln County War. On the way to Capitan, the group continues its exploration of local history at Fort Stanton Historic Site. Each night the group lodges at Bonita Park with time for rock climbing, swimming and playing games. On day two, students embark on a robust hike to Argentina Peak in Lincoln National Forest and White Mountain Wilderness where they learn more about forest succession and care for the environment. Exploring White Sands National Monument on day three affords students an opportunity to compare forest and desert biomes, and the class always enjoys playing in the dunes in this unique area before heading home.
